I'm not going through to town with him this morning. I wake up to give him a kiss and wish him then fall back asleep.
Woke up around 10h20 chilled till round 11h20 reading,drinking coffee. I move from bed to the laptop more coffee, music, smokes, Mary came round for a visit she was super sweet, stayed awhile.
Now i'm sitting here because I need to write my submission for the Belter with Brains competition with photographer Sivan Miller and Mr Cape Town. I need to write a page on why I think I deserve the grand prize of a 10 shot modeling portfolio by Sivan Miller himself! A photographer who's work I have admired and observed religiously from both a model and photographers perspective. He turns everything in his lens to gold... here is but a taste, go to Sivan Miller for more.
AHHHH!!! so you can imagine how badly i want to make my submission effective and worthy. I'm hoping that blogging about it will help me write it, get me in the flow, I think it may be working.... (she smirks as she jams out to the Black Keys - i'll be your man).
I've always battled to give someone a reason to pick me from a sea of others, But lets see if i can go find one. I'll keep you posted.

So i posted my previous blog without much description or news from my side, and i know I've been slacking when it comes to keeping it fresh here on my little piece of this vast cyber space plateau.
As most of you know i was selected for the FHM top 100 models 2011, the votes closed on the 15 th of December on the 16th the top 10 where announced, i was not one of them, just didn't make the cut. I probably could have done more but hey thats how we learn. Would like to again thank all of you who voted means so much to me, your support my friends was overwhelming.
The other news... in my previous blog i posted a bunch of photographs i took backstage at Synergy of Flash republic it was such a highlight for me, was so excited with my results. I had never been to a synergy before, there where a few glitches when it came to schedules and sound at stages, but overall I was so impressed, the turn out was extreme, the venue layout and design was awesome, and the line up did not disappoint in the least.

We lived it up at the VIP tent area with nothing close to VIP sleeping arrangements however all the other necessary elements where there ;)

The Boom town film crew and myself headed out to Nkanini in Khayelitsha earlier this year to cast some of the locals and do some location scouting for an upcoming PSA.
Driving in not knowing what to expect at all, we parked in an open piece of land covered with sand, we unpacked all of our camera equipment and started chatting to the necessary people for permission to shoot.
Its pretty daunting going into a township not knowing anyone, not being able to communicate except for my very limited Zulu vocabulary, holding a big camera!Now having to connect with complete strangers, a different culture and get them to allow me to photograph them.They welcomed me with open arms, especially the children.They danced, sang, ran around after us, loved the camera, I'd sit down for a second and would be surrounded with children.
All filled with the excitement of what was going there was the greatest vibe amoung us all.
It was the best two days I have ever experienced in the time i have been a photographer, I can't wait to go back.

It was Saturday the 4th of September when i hear 'the bucket' by Kings of Leon going off in the corner of my room, it dawns on me that it is now time to stumble out of bed, take my phone off charge, and hit snooze. As i throw myself and phone back into bed wondering why my alarm was set for a Saturday?....Then i realise.... I need to get myself and nicks ass's out of bed, "The Machine & I" have there first band practice in a little less than an hour!
I rush out of bed and into the shower, rush back out get ready & try to wake the frost man. Not an easy venture, but doable non the less. We wait for Grizzle he's running late too, once he's there we shoot from my place to Frost's to fetch his drums, then realizing we've left mike's and stands back at mine, so back there, then get to Julian's, (where he lay sound asleep) after much wafting about we eventually make our way to the HELDERVUE band room where The Machine & I are having practice.
"The Machine & I" you wonder? The next fresh thing straight from the roots of the West Phil Grizzle on Bass, Nick Frost on lead Guitar, Julian Bach on Drums & myself JesseBeth on lead Vocals. A Blues Rock, musical explosion to keep your eyes out for! We are having our first Gig at the Nameless Halloween party this year, but we'll let you know all about that in time.
We all started to set up for practice not knowing what to expect, would we jam well together? what's it going to sound like? I was uber excited.... As we began to jam, riffs, bass lines, vocals and drums started to flow, We played from about 13h00 to 16h00 working on material we're so amped to build on, a sound i cant wait to find and watch grow.. i cant imagine what we may stumble across, it makes me all nervous and excited just thinking about it.
